Oakton Tour Focuses on the Artistic and Cultural Richness of Italy

Experience the wonders of Italy past and present, from beautiful countryside to breathtaking architecture, on a two-week tour sponsored by Oakton Community College's travel/study program. Trips are scheduled Oct. 26 - Nov. 9, 2002; and April 26 - May 10, July 12 - 26, and Oct. 25 - Nov. 8, 2003.

The trip includes tours of several cities and villages, including Milan, Verona, Venice, Florence, Stesa, Assisi, and Rome. Travelers will experience some of the world's most famous masterpieces, including da Vinci's Last Supper and Michelangelo's David, and works by Botticelli, Signorelli, Perugino, and others at the magnificent Sistine Chapel.

Architectural highlights of the tour include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum in Rome, the canals of Venice, and countless cathedrals that give testament to the enduring strength and influence of Romanesque architecture.

Throughout the trip, sample native dishes at specially arranged meals and learn about the everyday lives and customs of the local people. For more information, including complete itineraries and prices, call Bea Cornelissen at (847) 635-1812.
