Enhance Career Opportunities With Oakton Community College


Increase professional marketability with job development courses offered by Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL). Registration is now open for classes in 17 career fields, including accounting, computer networking, design/AutoCAD, electronics and computer technology, hospitality and foodservice management, international trade, and professional selling.

Small Business Management (MAN A09-01, Touch-Tone 06788) introduces the principles for organizing a small business, covering such topics as financial analysis and planning, staffing, marketing, and tax and legal considerations. This class meets from 6 to 9:40 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 13 - April 7, at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. The course fee is $162.

Security and Loss Prevention (HOS A17-01, Touch-Tone 08362) examines various security issues and techniques, including guard service, physical security, and emergency planning. This class meets from 6 to 8:50 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 16 - May 8, at the Des Plaines campus. The course fee is $162.

Other classes offered this spring include Introduction to Networking (INT A01), Advanced Machine Technology (MAC A02), Securities Trading (FIN A02), and Adobe Photoshop (CPT A17).

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years or a credit course in the last three years may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
