Sharpen Skills with Oakton's Job Development Courses

Increase professional marketability with job development courses offered by Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL). Registration is now open for classes in various career fields, including accounting, computer networking, design/AutoCAD, electronics and computer technology, foodservice, management and supervision, marketing, office computer technology, and professional selling.

Payroll Tax Accounting (ACC A04-01, Touch-Tone 02323) teaches the practical applications of payroll tax laws and requirements. The class meets from 9 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Saturdays, beginning Nov. 11, at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. A required textbook is available in the bookstore for about $50. The course fee is $54.

Introduction to Networking (INT A01-03, Touch-Tone 04769) introduces students to general network concepts including wiring, testing, routing, and routing protocols. The class meets from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 23, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Avenue, Skokie. The course fee is $256.

Principles of Marketing (MAR A01-03, Touch-Tone 02513) teaches the basic concepts of marketing from consumer wants and needs to product development. A textbook may be required. The class meets from 6 to 9:50 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 1, at the Ray Hartstein Campus. The course fee is $162.

Other job development courses offered include Computer Accounting Applications (ACC 02), CAD II (DES A07), Advanced Solidworks (DES A09), A+ Certification Preparation (ECT A06), Hospitality Sales and Marketing (HOS A09), Food Purchasing and Storage (HOS A19), Marketing For Non-Profit Organizations (MAR A18), and Advanced Professional Selling (MAR A09).

Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
