Explore career options and develop new job skills by enrolling in a course offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL), the continuing education program partnered by Oakton Community College and district high schools. More than 100 introductory and advanced courses are available in various career fields, including accounting; air conditioning, heating and refrigeration; CNC programming.Highlights include:
- Introduction to Hotel and Restaurant Management (HOS A01-01 Touch-Tone 08128) provides a basic understanding of the lodging and foodservice industry. Students will trace the industry's growth and development, as well as review the organization and management of hotel, food, and beverage operations. Management concepts, employment opportunities and future trends will be examined in detail. This class meets from 6 - 8:50 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 14 - May 13, at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Rd. The course fee is $150.
- E-Business (MAR A03-01, Touch-Tone 08140) examines the process of conducting an online business. Topics include decision-making, product selection, distribution, pricing, shipping, warranty, insurance, legal issues, privacy and infrastructure. Students will develop a business plan for an e-commerce operation. This class meets from 6 - 9:50 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 12 - May 7, at the Des Plaines campus. The course fee is $165.
- Introduction to International Business (BTS A01-01, Touch-Tone 05833) provides an overview of current world trade activities, practices, government aids and barriers to trade. Students will examine the economic, geographic, cultural and political aspects that affect trade. This class meets from 6:30 - 9:45 p.m., Tuesdays, Jan. 22 - April 30, at the Des Plaines campus.
Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years and have a Social Security number on file may register by using the Touch-Tone system at (847) 635-1616 or by fax at (847) 635-1448. Both methods require payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover).
