Joyce Properties of Evanston has established a scholarship fund for minority youth attending Oakton Community College on a full- or part-time basis.Gary and Pat Joyce, owners of the real estate management company, created the scholarship opportunity to express appreciation for their company's 15 years of growth and success in the community. Eight scholarships for full- and part-time students will be awarded, allowing minority youth from Evanston to enroll at Oakton without undue financial constraints, while continuing to balance work and family responsibilities. The Oakton Community College Educational Foundation will first present these annual scholarships in October 2003.
Joyce Properties was established in 1988 with the purchase of two buildings in Evanston's Mayfair neighborhood, and has grown to include more than a dozen rental properties in Evanston. Joyce Properties continues to provide affordable and attractive housing to students, faculty and staff of Evanston area colleges and universities.
Oakton Community College offers degree and certificate curricula for students preparing to earn a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, Illinois Community College Board and American Association of Community Colleges.
