Oakton Offers Support to Hurricane Katrina Victims

Oakton Community College is opening its doors to students who had planned to attend Gulf Coast colleges and universities debilitated by Hurricane Katrina.

Oakton has implemented the following guidelines to support displaced students:
— For the fall 2005, spring 2006 and summer 2006 terms, students enrolled or admitted to any affected college will be allowed to register at Oakton;
— These students will be allowed to attend Oakton and pay tuition at the in-district rate. (Applicants must provide proof of enrollment at an affected institution.);
— Oakton will waive the application fee for these displaced students, as well as the late registration fees for students applying for the fall 2005 semester.

Oakton also offers a variety of late-start and distance learning courses that may help students affected by Hurricane Katrina continue their educations with little or no interruption.

For more information, please contact Oakton's office of registration and records at 847-635-1700 or 847-635-1400.
