OAKTON SPONSORS TOUR OF KENYA

View the richest concentration of wildlife on the continent of Africa when you journey to Kenya on a tour sponsored by Oakton's travel/study program. Trips are scheduled Aug. 7-20 and Oct. 9-22, 2002.

Your adventure begins in Nairobi, where you'll visit the Department of Paleontology at the National Museum of Kenya, followed by a visit to Boystown to learn about the social issues affecting Kenya's children. The next day you'll drive to Amboseli, one of the nation's best-known game parks, with its stunning view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. From there you'll travel through Kikuyu country to the Aberdare Forest. At the historic Mt. Kenya Safari Club, you'll enjoy a magnificent luncheon and a tour of its beautiful grounds. Later you'll safari past Mt. Kenya and across the equator to the Samburu Game Reserve to observe species of wildlife seldom seen elsewhere, such as the Grevy zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx.

This adventure gives you many opportunities to observe the diversity of African wildlife and to enjoy the country's cultural richness. You'll sample native dishes at specially arranged meals. A visit to a Masai village will give you a glimpse into the everyday lives and customs of the people.

An optional, one-week extension to Tanzania can be added to the basic tour. Your visit there will include stops in Lake Manyara National Park, a Serengeti safari, and a drive via the Olduvai Gorge to Ngorongoro for a full-day safari.
