Students in grades K-6 are invited to have fun while learning at Kids'
College, a summer program at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf
Road. An "early bird" discount is available to parents and guardians
who meet registration deadlines.
Classes
are offered in five one-week sessions from July 10 through Aug. 10,
and meet for three hours Monday through Thursday. Courses featured
the week of July 24 include:
Reading
for First Grade (KIDS 09-32) introduces youngsters entering
first grade to reading through various activities including writing,
crafts, and drama. Course fee is $105.
Campus
Biology (KDES 82-32) allows second and third grade students
to investigate diverse campus ecosystems: woodland, prairie, lawn,
and water lands. Course fee is $105.
Squid
Dissection (KYSP 96-32) teaches fourth, fifth, and sixth
grade students about mollusks. A 10-inch squid specimen will be dissected.
Course fee is $109, which includes a $4 materials fee.
Other
classes include Solids and Liquids (KDIE 03-32),
Sea Squirts (KDES 98-32), and Tableau Painting
(KDES 06-32).
