Oakton's Kids' Club Season Opens With a "WOW!"

Oakton Community College's Kids' Club opens its new season of kid-pleasing productions on Sunday, Sept. 15, with WOW! (Writing Our World!). The lively musical program begins at 1 p.m. in the Thomas TenHoeve Center (Room 1608) at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.

Produced and performed by Chicago's acclaimed Child's Play Touring Theatre, WOW! features songs, dances, and short plays adapted from original writing by children from around the world. The original stories and poems by these children reflect their lives, hopes, dreams, and cultural beliefs. Adding to the fun during the performance, audience members are called on stage to play various roles.

Since its founding in 1978, Child's Play has dedicated itself to producing material inspired by children and has performed at many locations across the United States, including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Smithsonian Institute, Anchorage Performing Arts Center, and Detroit Institute of Arts.

Tickets are $4 for general admission, $3 for Oakton students, and $3 for children ages 3 - 12, and may be purchased at the door or by calling the Oakton Box Office at (847) 635-1900. There is no charge for children age 2 and under.

The other Kids' Club programs scheduled this fall are Thomas Edison, a musical play by Face to Face Productions (Oct. 27), and Christmas and Hanukkah Joy, a fun-filled performance by storyteller and actor Chris Fascione (Dec. 8).
