Learn a New Language This Fall at Oakton

Knowing how to speak and understand a second (or third!) language creates opportunities to learn about another culture, get a better job, or to travel the world. Fall is the time to begin your new language study at Oakton Community College.

For most language studies, beginning language classes are only offered during the fall semester. Oakton offers courses in Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian and Spanish. Through a distance learning arrangement with College of Lake County, students also may study Mandarin Chinese.

Teaching methods at Oakton incorporate the latest in media enhancements to supplement traditional textbook learning. In addition to workbooks and audiotapes, instructors utilize authentic video clips, course-related Web sites, and computer study modules on CD-ROM.

Language courses are scheduled at the Des Plaines campus and Ray Hartstein Campus in Skokie, with a variety of day, evening, weekend and media-based options. For more information, contact Dr. Marguerite Solari, department chair, at 847-376-7012, or solari@oakton.edu.
