STUDY THE MAESTROS OF MUSIC AT OAKTON

Do you enjoy classical music but wish you knew more about it? Register now for music appreciation courses offered through Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL) and learn about the history and works of the art form's most accomplished composers. Each course costs $55 and meets at Glenbrook North High School, 2300 Shermer Rd., Northbrook.

The Maestros I (MUS E45-01 Touch-Tone 05788) focuses on the works of three Baroque composers: Bach, known for his beautiful melodies; Telemann, a self-taught, prolific genius; and Vivaldi, the master of the Italian Baroque. Class meets from 7 - 9 p.m. on three Tuesdays, beginning March 12.

The Maestros II (MUS E46-01 Touch-Tone 06054) explores the works of Haydn, whose work bridged the Classical and Romantic eras; Beethoven, whose style pushed classical forms to their extreme; and Schubert, best-known for creating some of the most beautiful Romantic music. Class meets from 7 - 9 p.m. on three Tuesdays, beginning April 9.

The Maestros III (MUS E39-01 Touch-Tone 05763) presents some of the greatest works by Schumann, and the expressive compositions of both Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Class meets from 7 - 9 p.m. on three Tuesdays, beginning May 7.

Those who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or for a credit course in the last three years, may register by using the Touch-Tone system at (847) 635-1616, or by fax at (847) 635-1448.
