Oakton Presents Early Tennessee Williams Play

Tennessee Williams' drama, "Not About Nightingales," will be presented by the Performing Arts at Oakton, Oct. 20 - 23 and Oct. 28 -30, at Oakton's Footlik Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

One of Williams' earliest works, "Not About Nightingales" was inspired by the true story of a 1938 Philadelphia prison riot in which four inmates were killed. The play reflects the plight of Depression-era outcasts in America, as well as Williams' passion for social justice.

Regular performances of "Not About Nightingales" are 8 p.m., Fridays, Oct. 21 and 28; 8 p.m., Saturdays, Oct. 22 and 29; 2 p.m., Sundays, Oct. 23 and 30; and 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27.

Additional performances include a $5 preview at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20.

Tickets are $12 for general admission; $10 for students and seniors; and $8 for groups of 15 or more.

To reserve tickets, call the Oakton Box Office at 847-635-1900. For group sales, contact Karol Verson at 847-635-2185.
