Journey
to Russia to experience the life and ancient culture of this exotic
country on a travel/study tour offered by Oakton Community College.
Trips in 2005 depart on May 31, July 14, and Aug. 29.
The journey
begins in the capital city, Moscow, where visitors can see famous
sites including Red Square and the beautiful complex of cathedrals
known as The Kremlin. Travelers then board their ship, the M/V S.
Kuchkin, for a trip along the banks of the mighty Volga River. Explore
the cities of Uglich, Goritsy, Kizhi, and Svirstory during this two-week
excursion.
Other
program highlights include visits to St. Basil, the History Museum
of Russia, Lenin's tomb, Moscow State University, the Ateneum Museum
of Finnish Art, and Grand Prince's burial vault. During the "people
to people experience," travelers will get to meet with veterans of
World War II and share views on this historic event.
