Patchouli Opens New Performing Arts Season at Oakton

The acclaimed acoustic folk duo Patchouli performs Saturday, Sept. 16., at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Comprised of Julie and Bruce Hecksel, Patchouli creates an organic and melodic sound featuring string bass, mandolin, harmonica, hand percussion, keyboard, and marimba. The duo met while studying at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and immediately began performing, touring and recording. Their eight albums released since 1996 have received critical acclaim and airplay on world and folk music and NPR radio programs nationwide.

This performance is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Art Council, a state agency. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $13 for students and seniors, and $11 for a group rate of 15 or more. For more information, or to order tickets, call 847-635-1900.
