Plunge into Peru with Oakton

Plunge into the culture, history, and ecology of Peru on a travel/study program sponsored by Oakton Community College. The last trip for 2007 is scheduled to depart Sept. 22; the first 2008 tour is scheduled for Jan. 20.

Begin in Lima, "City of Kings," before moving on through Colca Valley. Ascend nearly 10,000 feet to Condor's Cross Observation Point and view the panorama of Colca Canyon. Visit Inca remains at Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara, and Sacsayhuaman. Journey to Machu Picchu and take a guided tour through "The Lost City of the Incas." Canoe down the Madre De Dios River and picnic at the Manu Wildlife Center. Travel to Manu for forest trail hikes and complete your journey with a flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines.

This trip also is available to budget-minded travelers seeking more economical hotel and meal packages.
