See the Beauty of Peru on an Oakton Tour

Experience both the ancient and contemporary culture of Peru on a two-week tour sponsored by Oakton Community College's travel/study program. Three trips are scheduled for 2003: June 1 - 22, July 12 - 27, and Sept. 6 - 21.

Tourists will travel through several cities including Lima, where they will visit the "City of Kings" and renowned gold museum; Colco, for a tour of the Blanca National Reserve and the Colca Canyon; and Cuzco, to explore the Plaza Del Regocijo, Plaza De Arma, and Santo Domingo Monastery. The adventure also includes a tour of ancient ruins at Urbamba, the sacred valley of the Incas, and "The Lost City of the Incas."

Along the way travelers will have a chance to experience some of Peru's exotic wildlife, including parrots, macaws, and 10 different monkey species, on a three-day "jungle adventure" at the Manu Wildlife Center.

Throughout the trip, sample native dishes at specially arranged meals and learn about the everyday lives and customs of the local people. For more information, including complete itineraries and prices, call Bea Cornelissen at 847-635-1812.
