Pharmacy Technician Training Now Available at Oakton

One of the most exciting new career training opportunities at Oakton Community College is MRxI Corporation's Professional Pharmacy Technician Program [MLT 125 050]. Designed for pre-pharmacy students, as well as current technicians seeking certification and those with no experience at all, this 60-hour course meets at the Des Plaines campus Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m., starting September 29.

The Professional Pharmacy Technician Program focuses on the fundamentals and specifics of technician training for various pharmacy environments, including retail, community, and hospital. All classes are taught by an interim licensed or practicing Registered Pharmacist or Doctor of Pharmacy. Topics include basic physiology, drug classifications, calculations, abbreviations, drug interactions, and prescription processing. Students also prepare to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national exam.

Registration and financial aid for the Professional Pharmacy Technician Program is handled through Oakton Community College. The program is administered by MRxI Corporation, which has local alliances with hospitals, pharmacies, drug companies, and schools. For more information contact MRxI at 630-541-3600, or visit http://www.mrxicorp.com.
