Piano
enthusiasts are invited to audition for the Oakton Six Piano Ensemble,
a unique musical collaboration celebrating its 25th anniversary season.
Auditions are scheduled 7 - 9 p.m., Sept. 27, 28, and 29, at Oakton
Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road. Music is provided, but candidates
also may perform a prepared piano piece.
Conducted
by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at Oakton, the
Six Piano Ensemble has been invited to play at several prestigious
venues in the coming year, including the University of Hawaii and
the 2005 National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy. In previous years,
the Six Piano Ensemble has performed at the International Conference
of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago Civic Opera
House; the National-Louis University Artists Series, and the Salisbury
University Cultural Event Series.
Founded
in 1980, the six piano format challenges adult students to play unique,
original arrangements transcribed from the classical, ragtime, and
popular repertoires.
