Lt.
Governor Pat Quinn will discuss the "greening of Illinois" at the
Green Business Conference and Luncheon, 12 - 3 p.m.,
Friday, March 28, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road,
Des Plaines.
Quinn's office is charged with the development of programs such as
the Sustainable University Compact, Illinois Rain Garden Initiative,
Green Communities Initiative, and IllinoisCarpool.org. He also is
chair of a task force to increase the state's use of biofuels.
Keynote
speaker Candice Allen, program coordinator, global initiatives, HSBC
- North America, will address the advantages of leadership in energy
and environmental design (LEED) standards and how building professionals
can become LEED accredited.
In addition, a panel of experts from business, government, and education
will discuss ways to protect resources while saving time and money.
Participants include representatives from the Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency, Abbott International, Horigan Urban Forest Products,
EA Logistics, Delta Institute, Onyx Environmental Solutions, and Steiner
Electric.
In
