Oakton Offers Reading and Writing Bridge Program

Adults whose native language is not English and who have trouble reading and writing are encouraged to enroll in Bridges to Academic Reading and Writing courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College, in cooperation with area high schools.

Bridges to Academic Reading and Writing focuses on developing the skills necessary to successfully pursue GED or college credit courses. Classes meet twice weekly for 20 weeks starting in mid-January.

Registration for evening reading and writing classes will be held 7 - 9 p.m. on the following nights:

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006
Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006
Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006
Glenbrook South High School, 4000 W. Lake Ave., Glenview.
Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge.

Registration for daytime reading and writing classes will be held:

Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006
9:20 - 11:30 a.m., Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 9:20 - 11:30 a.m., Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006 9 - 11 a.m., Center for Professional Development, Old Orchard Mall, 34 Old Orchard Center, Suite E34, Skokie.
