The Oakton Community College Board of Trustees has named Jeffrey Rosen, Ph.D., associate dean of humanities, arts, and sciences at the University of Chicago Graham School of General Studies, to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Maxine T. Hill. The board accepted Hill's resignation during its regular meeting on January 21.In addition to his duties as associate dean, Rosen is responsible for administering the Graham School's undergraduate summer program, which extends college courses to returning students, graduate students, and visiting adults. He also administers the noncredit continuing education adult programs in the liberal arts and sciences.
Prior to joining the Graham School, Rosen held a similar position at Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies and spent 14 years as a professor of art history at Columbia College.
"I look forward to supporting Oakton as an important resource for higher education in our community, especially the college's mission to meet the needs of adult learners," said Rosen.
Rosen earned a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University, and a bachelor's degree from New York University. He and his wife, Lynn Sloan, live in Evanston.
Established in 1969, Oakton Community College offers degree and certificate curricula for students preparing to earn a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, Illinois Community College Board, and American Association of Community Colleges.
