OAKTON RUNNERS ON THE WINNING TRACK FOR 2002


On January 5, the Oakton Community College Track Team won its first meet of the year at the Snow-Fun Run in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Five-time All American Mike Szasz and his teammate Jim Milner led the Oakton Running Raiders with first and third place overall finishes, respectively.

Running in cold and windy conditions, Szasz won with a time of 25:14 for the five-mile course, improving on his 2001 time by 40 seconds, while Milner ran 26:05. Szasz's younger brother, Attila, completed Oakton's team scoring with a 22nd place finish with a time of 29:17. Oakton easily outdistanced the 2nd place team by almost 18 minutes. Stephanie Maisel placed 200th overall and won her age division with a time of 37:01.

The Oakton Track Team will compete in the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater Invitational on January 26.
