Sandra Perlow Exhibition Explores the Connection Between Illusion and Reality

The psychological connection between landscape, the human form, and fragments of architecture is reflected in Sandra Perlow: Swing, a new exhibition opening Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Oakton Community College Koehnline Gallery, 1600 E. Golf Road. A free reception with refreshments is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m.

Chicago artist Sandra Perlow uses layers of odd, vibrant, mutating shapes to establish unfamiliar paths from which to observe the world. Departing from pure abstraction, Perlow constructs specific, yet enigmatic images to create patterns that reflect the diverse cultures she has encountered, as well as the constant friction between illusion and reality.

Sandra Perlow: Swing will be on view Dec. 12, 2002, through Jan. 24, 2003, during regular Gallery hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Admission is free.

For more information, call Nathan Harpaz, curator of the Koehnline Gallery, at 847-635-2633.
