The
internationally acclaimed Six Piano Ensemble performs
two concerts of popular, classical, and ragtime selections, 8 p.m.,
Saturday, April 26, and 3 p.m., Sunday, April 27, at Oakton Community
College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
The
program features the world premiere of "Oakton Toccata," written expressly
for the ensemble by composer Robert Vandall, who has composed more
than 400 works for the piano. The composition will be published by
Alfred Publishing Company. The ensemble also will perform works by
Mozart, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Scott Joplin, and Francis Poulenc.
The
Oakton Six Piano Ensemble features the keyboard skills of Mandy
Dallmann, Evanston; Beatriz Levi, Skokie;
Adrian Metzger, Chicago; Manigirdas Motekaitis,
Chicago; Garfield Sallman, Des Plaines; and Jiawei
Shi, Northbrook. The founder and conductor is Glenna Sprague,
professor and coordinator of music at Oakton.
