September Auditions Set for Oakton Six Piano Ensemble

Become part of a unique musical collaboration as a member of the Oakton Six Piano Ensemble. Auditions for this internationally acclaimed touring group are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 15, 16 & 17, in Room 1360 at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Music is provided, but audition candidates also may bring a prepared piano piece.

The Six Piano Ensemble is an excellent opportunity for pianists to perform with one another and expand their repertoires. Conducted by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at Oakton, the Ensemble performs classical, jazz, ragtime, and popular arrangements.

The only musical group of its kind in the nation, the Ensemble has performed at the International Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago Civic Opera House; the National-Louis University Performing Artist Series; and the Music Teachers National Association Convention and various MTNA state conventions.

The Six Piano Ensemble will have the opportunity to play at various venues during the 2003-04 academic year, including Salisbury University in Maryland. In addition, the Ensemble has accepted an invitation to perform at the 2005 National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy.

For more information, call Glenna Sprague at 847-635-1905.
