Oakton Six Piano Ensemble Sets Audition Dates
Pianists are invited to audition for the internationally acclaimed Six Piano Ensemble, a unique musical ensemble at Oakton Community College that performs original arrangements from the classical, ragtime, and popular songbooks.
Auditions are scheduled 7 - 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, and Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Room 1360 at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Music is provided, but candidates also may perform a prepared selection.
Founded in 1980 and conducted by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at Oakton, the Six Piano Ensemble has invitations to perform at several prestigious venues in the coming year, including the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The group previously has performed at the Hawaii Music Teachers Association in Honolulu; the International Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago Civic Opera House; and the Music Teachers National Association National Conference in Spokane, Washington.
Oakton Six Piano Ensemble - Live in Concert is available on compact disc and cassette.
