Oakton defender Alen Malkoc was named to the Men's
Division I Junior College All-America Second Team by the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for his outstanding
accomplishments in men's soccer.
The
5-foot-10-inch sophomore anchored one of the stingiest defenses in
the country. The Raiders posted a 1.24 goals against average, the
best in Oakton's history. A two-year starter, he also scored six goals
on the season.
"Alen
earned this recognition with hard work," said Oakton head soccer coach
Steve Brody. "He improved his game every day during the off-season
and every day during the soccer season. I'm proud of his contributions
and dedication to the men's soccer program at Oakton."
Malkoc,
who also was named Most Valuable Player in the Skyway Conference,
was one of 50 players honored by the NSCAA. All honorees are invited
to the NSCAA All-America luncheon, which will be held on Saturday,
Jan. 21, 2006 in Philadelphia.
The
Raiders finished the 2005 season with a 13-5 record, losing 1-0 to
College of DuPage in the National Junior College Athletic Association
Region IV men's soccer finals.
