Oakton Student Awarded for 'Excellence in Psychology'

Melissa Traub, 21, of Chicago, recently was awarded an "Excellence in Psychology Certificate" by the Committee of Psychology Teachers at Community Colleges of the American Psychological Association for her achievements in the study of psychology at Oakton Community College.

Traub was nominated for the honor by Robert Frank, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, and chair, Behavioral and Social Sciences, who also was cited by the committee as being "one of a select group of educators striving for quality psychology education."

"It is very rewarding to see students recognized this way," says Frank. "Melissa is an outstanding student with keen insights and an excellent grasp of the principles of psychology."

Traub is transferring to Loyola University Chicago in September to pursue a bachelor of science in nursing degree, with the goal of working in pediatrics or neonatal intensive care.

The American Psychological Association, located in Washington, D.C., is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States. Its membership includes 150,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students.
