A visual
guide designed to explain specific company methods and practices is
now being offered through the Business Institute at Oakton Community
College. The Process Picture Map (PPM), created under license
from Talsico, LLC, is a customized tool to aid in the training of
new employees.
"Certified
technical writers are trained to capture the best way to perform a
process," says Linda Lehman, director of the Business Institute at
Oakton. "These step-by-step guides are especially valuable in environments
with language barriers or high turnover." Lehman said PPM training
also helps companies reduce employee error and meet regulatory guidelines.
The Process
Picture Map includes color photographs that outline company procedures,
to be used to supplement job training. Other benefits of this economical
service include reduced time required to learn a job or task and improve
productivity.
Talsico
clients include Pfizer, Westinghouse, and International Paper.
