Oakton Professor Leads Alaskan Study Tour

Join Oakton Community College on a family study/tour of Alaska, July 22 - 30, 2004. David Rodgers, an experienced professor of cultural and environmental geography and environmental science and biology, is the trip leader.

Spend the week cruising the Inside Passage of Alaska while Rodgers provides educational classes and lectures that appeal to all ages. Search for sea otters and humpback whales and observe salmon-seeking bears. View magnificent landscapes, including the Misty Fjords, Lynn Canal, and Glacier Bay.

Throughout the journey, the ship will stop at various ports to provide added educational experiences. Visits include the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush town of Skagway; St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Sitka, and Haines, site of Alaska's oldest army fort. Spend a day at Glacier Bay National Park, as an informed service ranger navigates the icy rivers.

Booking incentives are available before Dec. 5, 2003 or Feb. 27, 2004. For more information and complete tour itineraries, call Bea Cornelissen at 847-635-1812.
