REGISTER NOW FOR OAKTON'S TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Social security, stem cell research, and the nation's energy policy are the three topics to be discussed during the Spring 2002 Town Hall Meetings, sponsored by Oakton Community College's Emeritus program. All sessions will be held at the Ray Hartstein Campus in Skokie from 1 - 2:30 p.m.

Stem Cell Research: Living on Borrowed Time will explore the scientific facts and ethical dilemmas of stem cell research. Hollace Graff, Ph.D, philosophy and humanities chairperson at Oakton, will lead the discussion on February 28.

Privatization of Social Security: Gold at the End of the Rainbow will examine the pros and cons of investing Social Security monies in the stock market - once thought a good idea, now very much in doubt. Steve Carter of AARP and Linda Delaforgue of Citizen Action will lead the discussion on March 7.

National Energy Policy: What if the Lights Go Out will explore this heavily debated policy released last year by the Bush Administration. Is the policy the answer to our country's energy problems, or is there a smarter plan out there? Join Howard Lerner, J.D., of the Environmental Law and Policy Center, for what promises to be an interesting discussion. This session will meet on March 21.

The cost for the entire Town Hall series is $20 for persons in district and over the age of 60, and $25 for persons out of district and under the age of 60. For more information about the Town Hall series, call (847) 635-1414.
