'Travel Documents' on Display at Oakton

Art inspired by travel is showcased in an exhibition opening Thursday, July 6, at Oakton Community College's Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. A reception with light refreshments is scheduled 5 - 8 p.m.

Curated by Corey Postiglione, instructor of art history and criticism at Columbia College Chicago, "Travel Documents" assembles a variety of responses to travel by artists including Elizabeth Ockwell, Kathie Shaw, Fern Valfer, Dan Barber, Tim Anderson, James Krauss, and Antonia Contro. An array of media is represented, from traditional sketchbook drawings and collage, to more conceptual forms including altered photographs and video.

The exhibit runs through Thursday, Aug. 24, and is free and open to the public. KMA summer hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, through Aug. 13.
