Art inspired by travel is showcased in an exhibition opening Thursday,
July 6, at Oakton Community College's Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600
E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. A reception with light refreshments is
scheduled 5 - 8 p.m.
Curated
by Corey Postiglione, instructor of art history and criticism at Columbia
College Chicago, "Travel Documents" assembles a variety
of responses to travel by artists including Elizabeth Ockwell, Kathie
Shaw, Fern Valfer, Dan Barber, Tim Anderson, James Krauss, and Antonia
Contro. An array of media is represented, from traditional sketchbook
drawings and collage, to more conceptual forms including altered photographs
and video.
The
exhibit runs through Thursday, Aug. 24, and is free and open to the
public. KMA summer hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday,
through Aug. 13.
