The Oakton Community College Board of Trustees elected officers for 2002-2003 at its recent organizational meeting. Serving one-year terms effective Nov. 19 are Howard M. Tennes, chairman; Joan W. DiLeonardi, vice chairman; and Jody Wadhwa, secretary. Continuing as treasurer is George Chirempes, Oakton vice president for business and finance. Other Oakton trustees include Maxine T. Hill, Joan Hall, J. William Handzel, Marge Whitman, and student trustee Lina Hoffman.Regular meetings for the 2002 - 2003 year are scheduled for Dec. 17, 2002, and Jan. 21, Feb. 18, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 24, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, and Nov. 18, 2003. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room (Room 1506) at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
Established in 1969, Oakton Community College offers degree and certificate curricula for students preparing to earn a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, Illinois Community College Board, and American Association of Community Colleges.
