Oakton Seeks Volunteer English Tutors

Volunteers interested in helping adults improve English skills are invited to a training session sponsored by Volunteers in Teaching Adults (VITA) at Oakton Community College. Training is scheduled 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006; 6:30 - 10 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006; and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

VITA tutors should be able to pledge two to six hours weekly, and to work with teachers in the English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learn to Read to Learn (LTRTL). Tutors may volunteer at a variety of locations on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
