The
public is invited to a free screening of a controversial new documentary,
Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, 7 p.m., Wednesday,
Nov. 16, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
Wal-Mart:
The High Cost of Low Price features employees, managers, and executives
talking about their company, and shows how many U.S. families struggle
to compete against the retail conglomerate. Following the 95-minute
screening, Pioneer Press film critic Bruce Ingram will moderate
a Q-and-A session with producer Devin Smith of Brave New Films.
Oakton
is among the 3000+ organizations sponsoring premiere screenings of
Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price. The film is directed
by Robert Greenwald, whose previous films include Outfoxed: Rupert
Murdoch's War on Journalism and Uncovered: The War on Iraq.
