Welcome to the Performing Arts Department at Oakton.

The Performing Arts Center at Oakton Community College presents five or more theatrical productions, dozens of musical performances, and several experimental or reader's theater shows each season. Productions range from classical to contemporary in all forms of performance art with events geared toward adults and children alike.

The Center includes the Mainstage (a 285-seat technologically advanced auditorium designed for optimum artistic expression and audience comfort) and Studio One (an intimate, black box space that constantly changes environmental stagings and seats up to 100). Each space boasts state-of-the-art technology which competes with any professional space in the area.

Some of these technologies include intelligent lighting, special effects elements, dichroic color mixers, new media technology and applications, as well as a fully renovated sound system with assisted listening devices for our disabled patrons. While this technology allows the Center to provide stunning performances for patrons from the college and surrounding community, it also allows for a solid education in virtually all aspects of theaterical and musical arts. From the tools listed above and visiting directors, designers, and playwrights the Oakton Performing Arts Center delivers invaluable experience and opportunities to all of the students involved. Each day, students, faculty and staff use the Center's studios, classrooms and scene shops as part of the Oakton curriculum and experience.
