Raiders Add Talented Pitcher to 2011 Staff

Oakton’s future pitching staff received a big boost as Riley Perry, one of the top pitching prospects in Illinois, has committed to Oakton for the 2011 season.

A right-handed pitcher from Geneva High School, Perry owns a fastball that averages 88 miles per hour, according to Prep Baseball Report. He also possesses a curve and a change-up.

During his 2009 season at Geneva, Perry baffled hitters with his 8-2 record, and 82 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched. As a junior, he also boasted a 1.75 ERA and compiled 10 complete games.

“Riley is the third top prospect in the state that has chosen to commit early to our program,” said Oakton head coach Bill Fratto. “I feel like Christmas came early this year.”
