Baseball Season Concludes
Oakton’s bid to make its first appearance in the NJCAA Division II World Series came up three games short. The Raiders competed in the NJCAA Region IV Championships May 20-22, at Kankakee Community College with a berth to the NJCAA Division II World Series at stake. In their opening round game on Friday, May 21, the Raiders were handed an 18-12 loss at the hands of Madison Area Tech. Needing to beat Elgin Community College on Saturday, May 22 to stay alive in the tournament, the Raiders dropped an 11-4 decision.
Sophomore infielder Tim Scanlan (Prospect) posted four hits and seven RBI in the two championship games. He finished the season with a team leading 70 RBI. As a team, the Raiders batted .364, which ranks eighth in NJCAA Division II. The Raiders finished the 2010 campaign with a 42-19 record. The 42 wins ties a school record for most victories in a single season.
