Raiders Postseason Honors
(March 11, 2010)

Sophomore guard Marcus Acree (Oak Park and River Forest) headlines the Raiders postseason honors with his selection to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IV All-Region First Team.

Acree led the Raiders in scoring (15.2 points per game) and three point field goals (80) during the 2009-2010 season. An accurate shooter from the free throw line, Acree’s 81.4 percent from the charity stripe was second best on the team. He also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

“Marcus is well deserving of the honor,” said head men’s basketball coach Mick Reuter. “Night in and night out, he was one of our most consistent players. His work ethic every day was tremendous. His energy was contagious.”

In addition to his all-region honors, Acree was named to the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Conference First Team. In Illinois Skyway play, Acree averaged 17.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.

Sophomore forward Lyvonte Eskridge (Thornton Fractional North) and sophomore guard Terry Weathers (East Chicago Central) were honored as second team selections. In conference competition, Eskridge averaged 15.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and Weathers tallied 9.9 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.1 assists per game.

At the 2010 NJCAA Region IV All-Star Game on Sunday, March 21 at North Park University, sophomore forward Montrel Billups (West Aurora) will represent Oakton. Reuter will serve as the head coach for the West squad.
