of the Streets

The Liwalo na Liwe Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to
providing educational outreach to impoverished children around the world.
The group is currently focused on the growing number of street children
in Iringa, Tanzania, resulting largely from poverty and the impact of
HIV/AIDS. Join Michael Stewart for a screening and discussion of his film,
Watoto wa Mitaani (Children of the Streets), which seeks to discover
the personality of these youths, while at the same time understanding
the challenging circumstances they confront on a daily basis. [Room 1608]
Ethical
Traditions in Religion
10 - 11 a.m.
Join Ron Miller, professor of religion at Lake Forest College, to learn
about ethical traditions in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism.
We’ll also explore the resources available for further study in
Oakton’s library. Miller is the founder of Common Ground, “a
center for inquiry, study, and dialogue whose primary concern is the human
quest for understanding and the human pursuit of significance.”
