You can earn college credit at Oakton in many courses through CLEP (College Level Examination Program) testing. Oakton is a national test site for CLEP. Students can take tests at our center and send their results to any college or university that accepts CLEP exams for credit. 

	CLEP offers 35 different exams in various disciplines see The College Board Booklets are available in Advising and Counseling, or Testing Centers at either campus.
	The tests are given on computer, only at the Des Plaines Testing Center, room 2409.
	A maximum of two tests or one test with an essay, may be attempted on the same test date. .
	The fees payable on test day: $72 fee per test to CLEP. Check or credit card is acceptable. $15 service fee per test to Oakton Community College. Check, credit card or cash.

Schedule your CLEP test at least one week in advance by calling the Testing Center in Des Plaines (847) 635-1939.

You must show a photo identification before the test will be administered.

PROFICIENCY EXAMS FOR OAKTON COURSES

Some disciplines/programs offer proficiency tests for courses, such as MAT 102 Math for Allied Health, and HIT 104 Medical Terminology.  To take these exams students must make arrangements with the academic program chairperson.

	Fees for a Proficiency test, payable on test day: $20 -MAT 102 Math for Allied Health $50 other courses and $10 per semester hour of credit assigned to the course, if you want the credit recorded on your Oakton transcript
	Credits will be awarded only to students who have already earned at least six hours of credit at Oakton with a grade of "C" or better.
