CONTINUING STUDENTS
Students are encouraged to meet with an Academic Advisor EARLY to avoid the long lines and closed courses that often occur in late summer. Contact the Advising and Counseling Center to make an appointment with an Advisor and get assistance in scheduling your fall classes.

NEW TRADITIONAL AGE STUDENTS (recent high school graduates)
Advisors and counselors are waiting to meet you at our summer Registration/Orientation programs.
You will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions assigning you a date to attend one of these events. During the program, you will have the opportunity to meet individually with one of our Academic Advisors to develop your first semester schedule.

Remember, all full time students and any student wishing to register for a math or English course must meet Oakton's Placement Test Requirements.

New students who need to take the math and English placement tests need to do so at least two weeks before their assigned Orientation/Registration program.

Check out the Assessment Schedule for a time and location that works for you.

For more information about testing, call 847.635.1939

NEW ADULT STUDENTS
Please review the Adult Student Information Presentation at: www.oakton.edu/starthere to answer many of the basic questions about getting started at Oakton. After you have completed this online seminar, contact the Advising and Counseling Center to make an appointment to meet with an Academic Advisor. The Advisor will assist you in developing your course schedule and answer any remaining questions you may have.

Additionally, the Advising Centers host the Adult Student Welcome. This event is an orientation program that offers adult students the opportunity to connect with other adult students, learn about adult student support services, get answers to "last minute questions, and be given a guided tour of the campus.
