Special Areas of Study

Attending college is one of the most exciting times in your life, and we understand how important it is for you to make the most of your time here. Oakton offers a number of special programs where you will discover unique learning opportunities.

If you've excelled academically in high school, you may be eligible for the Honors Program. If you're interested in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, the STEM program will prepare you for careers in these critical fields. The College also offers outstanding study abroad programs and field study experiences to enrich your classroom learning. Great Books affords the opportunity to read and analyze provocative and powerful texts that have substantially influenced the development of our society. And the Women's and Gender Studies Program fosters creative thinking about how gender and sexuality shape our experiences. Other opportunities include distance learning, service learning, partnerships with other colleges, and Workforce Investment Act certified programs.
