FALL 2010
TURNING POINT FOR THE U.S. Fee: $40
Join Julie Strauss, Ph. D., for a two-part discussion involving the midterm elections and campaign finance. Do the 2010 elections represent a referendum on President Obama-or the Tea Party? We'll review the midterm election results and consider the shift of power among Democrats, Republicans, and independents. In the second week we'll look at campaign financing and the impact of the Supreme Court's recent decision to loosen restrictions on corporate and union donations. We'll track spending by these interests in the 2010 campaigns and compare it with prior elections. Topics also will include the influence wielded by these groups and current reform efforts.

From 1925 to1943, Richard Rodgers and Larry Hart wrote 25 scores for Broadway musicals, featuring songs infused with the brashness of their native New York.
