What is College 101?
Experience a fresh approach to learning! College 101 (COL 101), a three-hour elective course, helps first- and second-year students adjust and succeed academically. Other benefits include enhancing critical thinking skills, enriching social and cultural perspectives, and developing community spirit.
College 101 is neither an "easy A" nor a remedial course. Methods used to evaluate students' coursework include tests, out of class exercises, group projects, oral group presentations, and class participation. Because much of the class time centers on discussions and group interaction, instructors monitor attendance carefully.
Who should take College 101?
- Students who are ready for college-level work
- Students who are returning from other colleges or universities
- Students who have been away from school for a long time
- Students who want to improve their GPA
Why are students who take College 101 successful?
Studies show that students who take College 101 typically have a higher GPA. College 101 students are more likely to form strong social bonds in the seminar and complete their studies in greater numbers; achieve greater intellectual development; and learn the techniques and strategies needed to succeed.

Students who take College 101 enjoy the camaraderie with new friends, along with the dynamic and interactive classroom activities. Limited to 20 students per section, College 101 ensures a lively and rewarding learning experience.
