Publications Recognize Oakton’s Lee Center for Sustainability, Architecture

(October 6, 2015) Oakton Community College’s Margaret Burke Lee Science and Health Careers Center (the Lee Center), dedicated in March 2015, is receiving well-deserved kudos for its sustainability and architecture in recent publications.

The Lee Center is showcased in the fall 2015 edition of Sustainable Chicago, as well as the September issue of College Planning & Management.

The 93,000-square foot building, home to the college’s anatomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, medical laboratory technology, nursing, physical therapist assistant, physiology, and physics programs, is the most substantial project in the college’s $68.5 million five-year Facilities Master Plan.

Designed by Legat Architects and built by Turner Construction Company, the Lee Center also introduces a new breed of science educational spaces and celebrates the natural and artistic highlights of the Des Plaines campus.

The Lee Center offers a number of ways to honor family and friends through naming opportunities which range in value from $5,000 to $200,000, and provide a highly visible, timeless tribute.
