Offices and Departments

Since our founding in 1969, the education, empowerment and transformation of students has been Oakton's greatest mission. Accomplishment of this mission is made possible by the tireless efforts of our entire community of educators, administrators, students and community members.

Here, you'll find the many offices and departments dedicated to making quality, accessible and equitable education a reality for our students.

Office of Access, Equity and Diversity

This office brings together students, faculty and staff to meet the access and equity goals of the college. The OAED achieves this through the college's Diversity Council [LINK to Diversity Council page], the Access and Disability Resource Center [LINK to Access and Disability Resource Center page], Anti-Racism Team [LINK to Anti-Racism Team page] and other Oakton initiatives.

Administrative Affairs

The office of the Vice President for Administrative Affairs directs the business, finance, police, IT, and facility areas of the College. Business and Financial Services includes the departments of Accounting Services, Business Services, Facilities Operation and Construction, the Budget Office, and Public Safety.

College Relations

The Office of College Relations enhances the reputation of the College in the communities we serve by telling the Oakton story. The office manages print and electronic publications, web design and communication, social media, public and media relations, special events, college advertising and direct mail.

Educational Foundation

The Educational Foundation proudly supports the mission and vision of Oakton Community College by raising funds for student scholarships, academic programs, teaching excellence, and other improvements.

Facilities

The Facilities Department offers a full range of services related to college facilities, grounds and safety. The office coordinates and works in grounds, housekeeping, HVAC and maintenance.

Grant Strategy and Development

The Office of Grant Strategy Development provides support for grant writing, from planning and budget drafting to evaluation and data requirements. The office provides the expertise and support to transform your good idea into a succinct, detailed and competitive grant proposal.

Human Resources

In the same way our faculty and staff support our students, the Office of Human Resources supports the college workforce with a number of human resources needs, including hiring, benefits and more.

Information Technology

The Information Technology Department is dedicated to delivering high quality technical service to our students, employees and community. It is our goal to continuously meet the technological needs of all students, staff, faculty and visitors through IT support services, computer maintenance, network services and more.

Media Services

The Media Services Department provides audiovisual equipment, materials, and assistance for classes and special events at the Des Plaines and Skokie campuses, and oversees the college's cable and video operations.

Campus Safety

Oakton's police department offers a broad range of services designed to keep you safe and to promote a peaceful environment. It also offers a number of resources to keep you informed and alert.

Research and Planning

The Office of Research and Planning performs a wide range of services dedicated to gathering, analyzing and using data and information to enhance learning, teaching and institutional effectiveness.
