Oakton College is continuing campus improvement projects including those outlined in our recently approved facilities master plan, which will result in transformed spaces that create an optimal learning and working environment for students and employees.

Liberal Arts, Academic Affairs and Institutional Research Office Renovations (Des Plaines Floor 2)

Phase 1 has been completed. The Liberal Arts Department has moved into Suite 2180, and the Institutional Research has moved into Suite 2100. 

Academic Affairs has moved temporarily into Suite 1420 while construction takes place on Floor 2.

Phase 2 of construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the existing Liberal Arts and Academic Affairs suites on Aug. 5.

Skokie Library Learning Commons

Kluber Architects is working on construction documents for phase 1, which entails repairs and replacement to exterior doors across both campuses. Construction dates will be established upon completion of construction documents and bidding process.

All interior signs have been installed and corrections to signage are complete. All exterior signage is installed except for new signage at door 5 at Des Plaines, which will be installed in July 2024.

Landscape Master Plan Project

Work is progressing across both campuses. Door 5 at Skokie is expected to remain open throughout construction. 

Work at door 5 at Des Plaines has begun and is scheduled to be completed by July 26. Work at door 5 will include demolition and replacement of concrete, construction of new benches and installation of new landscaping.

Concrete work in front of the Lee Building will resume on July 22 and be completed by July 26.

Baseball Field Renovation

Field demolition and sub-grading is completed. Surveying crews are verifying surface grade elevations and irrigation system installation has begun. The parking lot update is scheduled for spring 2025.

Student Affairs
The Student Affairs Department is moving temporarily to Room 2817 at the beginning of August. The new space is currently being designed, with the department moving to Floor 1 in the summer or fall of 2025.
