IV. Learning Objectives
- Students will perform the following accounting functions with online spreadsheet platforms such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel 365:
- Develop an analysis to show the impact of transactions on financial accounts.
- Use multiple tabs to journalize and post accounting transactions.
- Complete a comprehensive project using appropriate formats and formulas to develop worksheets, adjusting entries, income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
- Students will perform the following accounting functions using cloud accounting software packages such as QuickBooks Online:
- Setup new company files, create preferences, establish chart of accounts, and import activity from previous data.
- Add customers and vendors, record all sales and purchasing activity, record cash receipts and payments, create credit and debit memos, and develop invoices and statements.
- For merchandising entities, create inventory items, establish product categories, develop inventory reports, and manage sales taxes.
- For month end, create adjusting entries, perform bank reconciliations, and customize financial statements for both internal and external reporting.
- Students will navigate file sharing storage systems such as Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive.

There are serious consequences to violations of the academic integrity policy. Oakton's policies and procedures provide students a fair hearing if a complaint is made against you. If you are found to have violated the policy, the minimum penalty is failure on the assignment and, a disciplinary record will be established and kept on file in the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs for a period of 3 years.

There are Accounting Lab hours at both campuses where accounting faculty and CPA’s can help you with your homework. Feel free to just come and work at one of the computers and ask for help as needed. Hours and locations are posted in D2L.
Students who have a change of health status need to contact the instructor as soon as possible so arrangements can be handled in a timely manner. Documentation will be required.
