Accounting Textbook Information

Accounting textbook information for each course and section is available on Oakton's Schedule of Classes

Within the Schedule of Classes, textbooks can be found clicking on an individual course section and looking for the words "View Book Information".  See below for more details about the textbooks for accounting courses.

ACC 153 Financial Accounting

The Schedule of Classes shows that the textbook for ACC 153 is a custom bundle.

Oakton has negotiated a very good price with Wiley so students can get a black and white copy of the textbook along with the Wiley Plus access code.  The current bookstore price is around $110.

The Wiley Plus access code purchased online from Wiley would cost around $125 so students are actually paying less at the Oakton bookstore.  We highly recommend that students do not purchase a book outside of the Oakton bookstore.

Also, please make sure to purchase the student handout packet at the bookstore.

ACC 154 Managerial Accounting
The Schedule of Classes shows that the textbook for ACC 154 is a custom bundle.  For the face-to-face students, Oakton has negotiated a very good price with Pearson so students can get a looseleaf copy of the textbook along with the MyAccountingLab s access code.  The current bookstore price is around $119.

The MyAccountingLab access code purchased online from Pearson would cost $121.95, but it does not include a paper book.  They would get an e-book that expires at the end of the term.

As far as the paper book, we highly recommend that students do not purchase one outside of the Oakton bookstore.  Students who purchase an outside book will still need to spend another $120 to register in MyAccountingLab.

Note to face-to-face students: Please make sure to also purchase the student handout packet at the bookstore.

ACC 241 Intermediate Accounting I
Please note that this is a two-semester book.  It will cover both ACC 241 and ACC 242.  The Schedule of Classes shows that Oakton used the looseleaf version of this book bundled with Wiley Plus.  Intermediate Accounting is a two-semester book and it is very heavy.  The looseleaf version allows students to carry the chapters that they need each week and it is less expensive than the hardcover book.  Students who prefer the hardcover book can substitute by purchasing it online.  Please try to purchase the version that includes the Wiley Plus access code.  If you just purchase the book alone, you will still need to purchase the access code from Wiley.

ACC 242 Intermediate Accounting II
The Schedule of Classes shows that Oakton used the looseleaf version of this book bundled with Wiley Plus.  This is the same book that was used in ACC 241.  See ACC 241 above for more information.

ACC 244 Income Tax Accounting
As part of your tuition bill, ACC 244 now has a course material fee of $109 that includes direct digital access to the eBook and homework manager.  You do not need to purchase any other materials for the course, but you do have the option to purchase a paper book directly from Pearson for $25 if you want that in addition to the eBook.  Even if you purchase the optional book, this all represents a substantial savings over the price of the national book.  Please note that when you file your income taxes for the year, you can include this $109 on Form 1098-T.   For most students, you are only eligible for this because Oakton is charging it to you as a course material fee rather than a bookstore purchase.  It is coincidental that you will learn more about this in the ACC 244 course itself.

ACC 245 Cost Accounting
To find the textbook information, see Oakton's Schedule of Classes.  Navigate to any section of this course and then click "View Book Information".  The book information will display the author, title, ISBN, and price at the Oakton bookstore.

Most of your learned about this when you took ACC 244 Income Tax Accounting.
